Antiguan name for this plant is SINGLE BIBLE (‘Sinklebible’)
because it has so many uses, the chief of which is for
burns and the scalp. It has been used as a laxative in
Carter’s Little Liver Pills. Other old time uses:
ulcers, swellings, colds, sore throat, asthma,
poultices, wounds, worms, stomach pains, diabetes and to
increase the appetite.
